We’re Not Finished Yet!

Hello WP-ORG!

We’re officially into week three of Fund Drive 60 and just about $5400 shy of our goal.

Any donation, large or small, makes a difference, and we’re grateful to receive each one: https://www.west-point.org/donate/

What we now know as WP-ORG began 30 years ago with a message left on a bulletin board: one grad looking for more grads on the World Wide Web. As these things do, it snowballed into a mission to facilitate communication and connection in an ever-expanding West Point community.

From my perspective, one of the most remarkable things about this project is the dedication of the people who make it work. Many of our email list moderators have been with us since the early days, and for a many of you, they are the face of WP-ORG. They watch over the lists that connect you to your class, society, special interest group, or parent club. They keep email addresses current; handle subscribes and unsubscribes and track down the cause of every bounced message. It’s quiet, essential work, and it keeps the mission on track.

Behind our moderators is a small core team: two grads, two parents, and me (a Class of ’64 kid). Together, we’ve worn whatever hats the moment required, and over the years there have been some moments! Through slow, steady progress and many hands, WP-ORG has grown from a desktop hobby into a reliable, modern cloud service. With our move to Amazon Web Services we have consolidated and standardized our systems, tightened security, and can better monitor and maintain the health of everything you rely on. The bottom line – WP-ORG is more stable and more prepared for the future than ever before.

None of this would be possible without you: your belief in WP-ORG and your support. Thanks to you, we’re standing here poised and excited for what’s next.

If you haven’t yet, please help us cross the finish line for Fund Drive 60: https://www.west-point.org/donate/

Thank you so much!
