Army / Navy Primary Viewing Party North River Tavern

Dear WPSA Members,

Join us for this year’s Army/Navy Watch Party!

Due to unforeseen challenges with our original venue, we have had to change the Primary Viewing venue location. The reason for this change is that additional college football games have been scheduled on our Army/Navy game date and Sports and Social is not guaranteeing that they will play the audio from our game, nor be able to put it on the big screen. This obviously does not present for a good experience for us.
The new venue details are below:

There are two ways to enjoy this year’s game:

When: December 12, 2020 3:00 PM

Show up early! Doors open at 12 PM.

Primary Viewing Location: North River Tavern
8879 Roswell Rd. Sandy Springs, GA

Note: Due to COVID-19, North River Tavern is practicing social distancing within the venue and taking extra precautions when it comes to sanitization. All COVID-19 measures can be found at this link.

Thank you!

Army / Navy Viewing Party – Southside

Here we go,

In a two week span:

Army plays Navy at West Point 12 Dec
Army Plays Air Force at West Point 19 Dec
Army plays in the Independence Bowl 26 Dec

To the point of this specific e-mail…here are the particulars:

WHO: Every man, women and child (over the age of 21) who wants to watch the Army-Navy game with other like minded individuals

WHAT: The first Army-Navy game at West Point since World War II

WHEN: Saturday, 12 December, in the awesome year of 2020, promptly at 1500 hrs

WHERE: The second level at Y-Knots Sports Bar and Grill, Peachtree City, GA (note: Y-Knots has three levels) We will bleed over into the lowest level if enough people requires such a move

Reminder that we had 75 people show up at last year’s game, to include eight squids. I suspect there will be less this year because of how great a year this has been…socially speaking.

For those wondering what to do Saturday morning…ESPN College Game Day show will air from the hallowed grounds of the United States Military Academy from 9:00 AM until noon on Saturday. Guaranteed to have some great stories and film of life at each of the academies.

According to ESPN, Army has a 76% probability of victory.

Not to doubt ESPN, but bring your lucky charm as we sing second at the conclusion of the game.

Looking forward to seeing one and all,

GA Southern vs Army Southside Watch Party

We had five people show up to watch the Tulane-Army beat down. Not bad considering the late scheduling of the game on ESPN2.

This week Army hosts GA Southern. A little info on this team: GA Southern is 6-2 with only two close losses were to Coastal Carolina and the University of Louisiana, both of which are currently in the top 25. One would think GA Southern would be favored, but ESPN has Army at a 71 % chance of a victory and favored by 4 points. It should be noted that ESPN has been correct on all eight of Army’s games to date.

WHAT: Southside Watch Party for the GA Southern vs Army football game

WHEN: 1200 hrs, 21 November

WHERE: Y-Knots Sports Bar and Grill, Peachtree City, GA

For those unable to attend, the game is airing on CBSSN.

Looking forward to seeing one and all,

Southside Army vs Mercer Football watch party

Army hosts Mercer this Saturday and we of the Southside Gathering, just like the knights of the round table, will come together to watch Army fulfill the prophecy of a 97% chance of victory (according to ESPN).
Last week we had 9 brave Knights show up to watch Army hand the Roadrunners a 28-16 defeat.
Here are the particulars…pay attention to the game time, it has changed from the original schedule:

What:  Mercer vs Army Football Watch Party
When:  1200 hours, 24 October 2020
Where:  Y-Knots Sports Bar and Grill, Peachtree City, GA…Upstairs/Downstairs??? figure it out Recondo, improvise and adapt
Why:  This victory makes Army Bowl eligible.  Oh! wait!  This year since some conferences are playing only 6 games total, there is no minimum number of victories to be bowl eligible. ULM and MTSU still have a chance at a bowl game.
There are no wardrobe challenges.  I suspect the downturn in attendance directly correlates to the pressure of competition so we will let everyone be a winner when it comes to one’s attire.  Can you say participation trophy anxiety.
Look forward to seeing one and all,
