Cadets travelling to Mitchell Winey’s funeral in Chesterton, IN on June 18th

Cadets travelling to Mitchell Winey’s funeral in Chesterton, IN on June 18th: The West Point Parent’s Clubs in Indiana and Illinois have set up transportation and lodging resources for your benefit.  The Illinois parents will provide transportation between the two Chicago area airports (O’Hare and Midway) and Chesterton, and will be able to provide lodging in the Chicago area on Friday and Saturday nights as needed.  The Indiana parents have organized lodging with local families for both evenings.  We will be able to cover lodging for cadets who arrive by air or by car for this very important event.

The service will begin at noon (CST) on June 18th with a gathering at Chesterton High School, the funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. (CST) and there will be a reception immediately following the funeral.

We will pick up all cadets who arrive Friday evening at the two Chicago airports (no matter the time), and either house them with Chicago area families or transport them to Chesterton to stay with families there.  For cadets planning to travel Saturday morning, please do your best to arrive O'Hare by 9:00 am (CST) or Midway by 9:30 am (CST).  The earlier the better but we will have sweeper cars at each location to catch any latecomers.  We will travel directly to the service on Saturday and then provide lodging in Chesterton or back in the Chicago area that evening.  And we will get everyone back to O’Hare and Midway for their return flights on Saturday evening and Sunday. Departing on Saturday evening will likely be OK if necessary, but that will work best for departures after 7:30 p.m. (and the later the better for Saturday).  Any departure time on Sunday will be good.

Please contact us at wbr333@att.net to arrange airport transportation and lodging for this event.  For those arriving by air, please include all of the basic information: name, email address, cell phone, travel information- arrival and departure dates, airport, airline, flight numbers, ETA and ETD. For those arriving by POV, we will only need your contact information and ETA and ETD.   I will send a confirming email very quickly.  Please send another message if you have not heard from me within 12 hours.

Please send your travel information as soon as possible so that we can line up the necessary resources.  We will be ready, thank you for your service, and thank you for honoring Mitchell and the Winey family.
