John Guilford Paules

June 30, 1924 - March 12, 2014

John was born in Los Angeles, California in 1924. He graduated from Los Angeles High School, attended Stanford University briefly and enlisted in the Army in 1942. He graduated from West Point in 1947 and later taught Spanish there. He served in many other military assignments around the world.

John retired--Lt. Col.--from the Army at Ft. Lewis, Washington in 1966. He worked for the Boeing company until 1970, and then for the State of Washington, in Olympia, until his retirement there in 1986.

He received a M.A. degree from Pacific University, in Tacoma, Washington in 1976, and then taught for several years management courses for Seattle City University and Pierce County Community College in Tacoma.

John and his wife, Jo Ann, were married in Abilene, Kansas in 1950. They lived in many parts of the world, including Germany, Spain and Panama. They lived in Lakewood, Washington and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1995, and they recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

 John is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, and four children---David Paules (Camano Island, WA), Cristina Bryner (Olympia, WA),  Sarah Frye (Lakewood, WA) and Gregory Paules (Auburn, WA). John and Jo Ann have eight grand children and four great-grandchildren.
