Matt's Miscellaneous Disc Golf Thoughts Webpage (Disc Golf Addiction Takes Another Form)

Welcome to my world of Disc Golf esoteria. This is my collection of stuff that proves I spend way too much time on this sport.

Ugliest Target PULT Instructions Personal Bests Ace Log My Bag Pics Redstone II Virtual Tour Redstone Virtual Round Brahan Springs Virtual Round Random Thoughts Disc Golf Links Octopus Baskets Ft. Leavenworth Course Tour Teaching DG to Kids Alabama Disc Golf

It's great to be here in Huntsville, Alabama with the Rocket City Chain Gang.

My latest project is a page on Teaching Disc Golf to kids. Check out the pointers and contribute your own. My goal is to make the page a resource for those who want to actively grow interest in disc golf and other disc sports among kids.

When I lived in Kansas, I installed a nine hole course on Ft. Leavenworth. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone interested in maintaining the course so I had to pull the baskets out before I left. The Firefly Disc Golf Course was fun while it was up. Go to the Firefly page to see a virtual tour of the course including the back nine that played the course backwards.

While in Kansas I played Waterworks (61), Rosedale Upstairs(53) & Down Under (57), Wyandotte County Park (62) Swope Park (53) Olathe (57) and Ted's Dread for a complete sweep of the Kansas City courses that I know of. All are great courses. Waterworks is probably my favorite but Rosedale Down Under and Olathe are pretty special too. Wyandotte is just a monster course that you have to play to appreciate. Bottom line, there are some great Disc Golf courses in Kansas City.

I have plans up for my tire based hanging baskets. Go to the Octopus page to see instructions on how to build one of these beauties for $25 or less. They pack down to very little and make things interesting when the wind kicks up.

Check out my third ace made on the basket above in the Ace Log. For those of you who have never played here, Huntsville, Alabama has a rich tradition in disc golf and a great variety of courses. I learned most of what I know about the game playing in the Sunday and Thursday pro-am doubles tournaments run by the Rocket City Chain Gang.

I will update these pages with new stuff frequently. I have several fun Disc Golf topics here. I tried to run an "Ugliest Home-made Target Contest" but I got zero entries so I'm giving myself the prizes. I doubt anyone could have beaten my own worthy entry, the Portable Ugly Lightweight Target (PULT). Assembly instructions and pictures for both first and second generation PULTs are here.

Check out a boring log of my personal best rounds of disc golf and the entries in my ace log .  You can also see what I have in my bag or a couple of pictures of my sometimes golfing buddy. Or read a few of the strange things that have happened to me because of Disc Golf in my random thoughts page.

Check out my virtual tour of the proposed Redstone II course. The course would have had a ton of variety including long open holes, tight, tree-lined shorties and a couple of ace runs.

I have also put together two virtual rounds of golf where you can see a throw by throw account of how I did while toting my camera around the course: Redstone Virtual Round, Brahan Springs Virtual Round.
