My Bag

A quick bag update, I no longer use the Walmart tackle bag below except to hold discs I don't use. No, I didn't finally open my wallet and buy a real golf bag, my co-workers got me the one above as a departure gift when I changed to a different division at work. It's a really nice Lightning with my name and our logo embroidered on it. What a great bunch of folks. I guess I talked so much about Disc Golf at work that the appropriate gift was obvious. I get compliments on the bag almost every time I play with other people.

I haven't taken any more disc pictures but my inventory has grown and changed. Up until about a month ago I still used Eagles with various levels of experience for most drives. At the Alabama States I purchased a Valkyrie and I love the way it flies brand new. It really holds a long straight line before fading at the end of the flight. I found it much better to throw new than an Eagle. I have to get an Eagle medium beat before it has the right stability for long straight drives. I will probably go with the Valkyrie as my main driver from now on and just use my Eagles for specific situations. I have an SE T-Bird that I use to hold an anheiser line. My old T-Bird is so beat I can't really use it any more so I retired it to a place of honor on my wall since it is my first ace disc.

Okay call me cheap (I am). I went to Walmart and bought a bag intended to hold a stack of those plastic fishing tackle boxes for $9.95.  It also manages to hold all my discs and has outside pockets for my wallet, keys, minis etc.  I don't formally introduce new discs to the old discs in my bag but I do talk nice to my putter and let my ROC take the Ching when I park an upshot with it.

The first four discs below are what I carry when I run the course.  If I were stranded at a desert island course and could only have one disc I would choose the Roc  (GIMMEEE THE ROC!!!!).

 DISCS
Eagle
I have 4 Eagles so I can practice driving without running after every throw.  Lavone Wolfe suggested this disc to me when I only owned 3 golf discs and it has been my favorite driver ever since.  168-169 grams is my favorite weight.  The heavier ones are a bit more stable than I like.  Somewhere buried in the leaves at Mastin Lake is a K.C. edition eagle that I would dearly love to get back.
Roc My first real golf disc and probably the one that I have the most confidence in.  I can make a Roc go either direction, putt and roll with it if need be.  My ever reliable upshot disc. I lost my first Roc at Redstone and I'm still heart broken.
Omega This supersoft is what I use on most putts and any upshot that I don't want a big skip on.
T-Bird This disc tends to go right then glide when I throw it hard so I use it on holes where I need to take an anhyser route. (Made my first ace with this one!)
Aviar I prefer the Omega to putt with so I don't use this one much.  It is useful on the first hole of Redstone#2 where you have to stop your shot on a down slope or your looking at a 50' putt on a short hole.
Cheetah My first serious driver.  I use it occasionally when I want a low level "S" shaped flight path.
