Dear Fellow Graduate
On behalf of the members of the West Point Society of the Tennessee Valley, you are cordially invited to attend the celebration of the United States Military Academy's, Founders Day 2009, at the Redstone Arsenal Officers' & Civilians’ Club, on Friday, 6 March 2009. Benny Haven’s hour will begin at 6:30 PM, with dinner at 7:30 PM. Dress is formal (Mess or Dress Blues, tuxedo, business suit, or cocktail dress).
The guest speaker this year will be LTG (ret) Theodore G. Stroup, Class of 1962; he currently is the Chairman, West Point Association of Graduates and Vice President for Education of the Association of the United States Army. More information on him can be found on our society website.
This year we will be welcoming as an Associate Member of WPAOG, COL Mark Smith. Mark is currently Commander of Fox Health Clinic and had two previous tours at West Point. He will be presented with his Certificate of Membership.
Our dinner will be salad with assorted dressings, a choice of Prime Rib of Beef or Grilled Salmon with buttered red potatoes, green beans almondine, rolls, assorted cakes for desert, with wine for toasting, and coffee/tea.
Please join us to renew old acquaintances, meet new graduates in our area, salute our Alma Mater on its 207th Birthday, and have fun. Lieutenant General Theodore G. Stroup, Jr., currently serves as the Association of the United States Army’s Vice President, Education and as Executive Director of AUSA’s Institute of Land Warfare. Prior to his retirement from active service, General Stroup was serving as the Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel. As a combat engineer, General Stroup has commanded at all levels. He has extensive overseas service as a sapper in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. His U.S. Army Corps of Engineers experience has been in both civil works/water resources and military construction. His critical staff billets have been in strategic resource planning and personnel operations for policy development/implementation in senior Army headquarters and the Army Staff, Pentagon.
