Slow but steady progress

It’s cold here, but I can envision Spring and warm temperatures and cruising with the windows down through the mountains with my dog in the back seat with his head out the window and ears flapping in the breeze. I don’t have a dog, but it’s not Spring yet either. I have almost finished cleaning parts. Just a few nuts and bolts left to clean. Everything must be spotless and shiny. The sheet metal is ready to paint. Soon, all the parts will be returned from the shop, and I can begin assembly. I won’t be able to run the engine on a stand to test it out because the starter does not attach to the engine, but to the transaxle, which is still in the car. I suppose I could rig up something, but that’s just asking for trouble. I still have to purchase a few parts, such as modified exhaust and intake systems. Those can wait until next month. I must begin working on the interior and suspension soon. Otherwise I’ll never make the March deadline. I’ve found a great website at www.autoxer.skiblack.com. It has the most useful technical information, aimed at autocross. For now, I have plenty to do in the gloom of winter. On the nice days, I can work on the car outside, and on the bad days I can work on the engine inside. Still looking for a digital camera to document all of this.
