West Point Society of Atlanta postponing events

Dear WPSA Members,

In case you haven’t heard, we have to postpone or modify some future events due to COVID-19 concerns and our venues’ new rules/availability.

1) Founders Day is postponed for 2020 (no longer on 29 Aug as previously published) and will be held next year as scheduled (20 March 2021).

2) Our planned TopGolf event is also postponed from Sept to October. The new date is now 15 Oct 2020 at 6 PM.

3) Our Happy Hours are planned to resume in Oct if we can find a venue large enough to meet social distancing guidelines. If you have ideas, please let us know!

Thank you for your understanding. We do have a slate of virtual events planned so stay tuned!

Send Off Video

Send Off Video to Georgia new cadets headed to Service Academies

Dear Grads and Friends of West Point,

This year, we couldn’t send off our latest Georgia new cadets to West Point and the other service academies like we do normally at the State Capitol Building and the Capital City Club.

Therefore, we crafted this video with some special friends to wish these great Americans well as they embark on their journeys. Please feel free to share widely! Enjoy!

Special Thanks You to Ken Konstanzer ’80, Jan Heath and Will Frampton of McLeod Media (www.McLeodMedia.net) for coordinating guests and editing this video.

2020 President’s Letter

We have Grown!

Dear Fellow Grads,

I’m proud to be leading our Alumni in the ATL area in my second year as President. I want to thank our Board and my Officers for finishing up a phenomenal year. These individuals donated precious time to ensuring our organization’s success.

This past year, we had some goals: throw a great Army-GSU Tailgate, grow membership, and improve our career development activities. I’m pleased to report we accomplished every goal except one: unfortunately, COVID-19 was not cooperative with our Founders Day — we had lined up Ambassador Andrew Young to speak! We will continue with FD next year.

There is more to accomplish. In the coming year, our focus will be strengthening the base – our younger grads and helping them career wise whether it be finding a job or helping them get their next business venture off the ground.

I look forward to stewarding our organization into 2021. Grip Hands!

Gripping Hands – new WPAOG feature in Sallyport

WPAOG is actively monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of being the most connected alumni body in the world, we have created a resource to help keep everyone in communication.

A new feature in Sallyport called Gripping Hands has been activated. This portal will allow you to find helpful resources about the coronavirus, join the alumni conversations about who needs help and who can help, read information about Grads helping Grads, and even find resources for mental breaks.

We will be updating this portal as more information becomes available / is requested.

Please share your thoughts with us at grippinghands@wpaog.org or 845.446.1677.

All Graduates have access to this portal and are preloaded into Sallyport. https://sallyport.westpointaog.org/topics/13993/feed

To access the system, they just need to use the email address they currently have on file with WPAOG. If the email address does not match, our staff will be reaching out directly to the Graduate for confirmation information.Grip (wash) Hands,
