Go Army,

The West Point Society of Atlanta

For those wondering why we aren’t able to hold an outdoor event like we did in 2019, GSU is not able to provide space for a tailgate due to heavy construction around the stadium, which is severely limiting parking lot availability. WPSA also explored the possibility of holding a tailgate elsewhere in Atlanta, however this was not feasible due to both cost and time prohibitive permitting requirements from the City of Atlanta, which were further exacerbated by COVID-19 limitations.

Note: If you were planning to hold an independent tailgate this year, we strongly recommend that you contact GSU to see if your event is feasible given the space limitations that exist around the stadium.

Parking

GSU is still developing plans for what parking lots will be available on game day. The aforementioned lack of parking lot availability is putting total lot capacity at well under 50%, and GSU has not yet determined which lots and spaces will be available. WPSA is working with GSU to reserve a number of spaces to sell to our membership, and we will share this information as soon as we have it.

Football game Ticket Sales

Visitor tickets for the game have not yet been released for sale by GSU. As soon as we get information from GSU, we will provide instructions on the best way to purchase so that you’re seated in friendly territory.

Thanks for your patience this year. We are looking forward to seeing you at Wood’s Chapel and kicking off the season with an Army win!

Go Army!

WPSA Founders Day update & AOG Virtual Founders Day

Dear WPSA Members,

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the West Point Society of Atlanta has made the difficult choice to postpone our in-person Founders Day dinner this year. That said, we’ve secured a new date for our Founders Day dinner: the event is now tentatively scheduled for October 9, 2021, so please mark it on your calendar now! More details will follow closer to the date of the event.

In the meantime, we wanted to make you aware that the West Point AOG is holding a virtual Founders Day event via Zoom on March 16th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. WPSA currently has about 50 members attending. You can register for the event at this link via the West Point AOG (note: registration requires signing into your account on Sallyport, or registering if you don’t have an account). For any questions, please reach out to foundersday@wpaog.org (845-446-1612).

Thanks for all you do to represent the Long Gray Line in the Atlanta area. Stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you via Zoom on March 16th!

West Point Society of Atlanta postponing events

Dear WPSA Members,

In case you haven’t heard, we have to postpone or modify some future events due to COVID-19 concerns and our venues’ new rules/availability.

1) Founders Day is postponed for 2020 (no longer on 29 Aug as previously published) and will be held next year as scheduled (20 March 2021).

2) Our planned TopGolf event is also postponed from Sept to October. The new date is now 15 Oct 2020 at 6 PM.

3) Our Happy Hours are planned to resume in Oct if we can find a venue large enough to meet social distancing guidelines. If you have ideas, please let us know!

Thank you for your understanding. We do have a slate of virtual events planned so stay tuned!

Send Off Video to Georgia new cadets headed to Service Academies

Dear Grads and Friends of West Point,

This year, we couldn’t send off our latest Georgia new cadets to West Point and the other service academies like we do normally at the State Capitol Building and the Capital City Club.

Therefore, we crafted this video with some special friends to wish these great Americans well as they embark on their journeys. Please feel free to share widely! Enjoy!

Special Thanks You to Ken Konstanzer ’80, Jan Heath and Will Frampton of McLeod Media (www.McLeodMedia.net) for coordinating guests and editing this video.
