Class of 2027 Plebe Parent Weekend–March 22-24, 2024

Plebe Parent Weekend remains an awesome memory for cadets and families alike in the  West Point experience!  We will have a huddle for Class of 2027 parents at the February 24 Annual Meeting to do a deeper dive on all things PPW, but for now…here’s the official, tentative schedule:

PPW Tentative Schedule p 1

PPW Tentative Schedule p 2

And words to the wise from your friends at the WPPCMI:

  • It’s best to arrive at West Point on Thursday.  Official events begin early Friday morning and you won’t want to miss, and there’s a lovely meet and greet on Thursday night that’s also worth attending.  Parents are encouraged to register once arriving on post.  Registration is usually at Cullum Hall and begins 8:00 am on Thursday.
  • Remember to wear your name tag from the club and your Michigan club swag.  We love it when our members represent and it’s often a great conversation starter.
  • Don’t Miss:
    • Your chance to see your cadet’s room in the barracks clean!!
    • Plebe-Parent Review Saturday morning
    • Dinner at the Mess on Saturday (your cadet will need to purchase tickets for you)

As you may know, Plebe Parent Weekend begins when the upperclassmen are dismissed to Spring Break.  This means that the Plebe Class is IN CHARGE!! Roles have been assigned, fancy tar bucket hats from Firsties have been loaned out and your sons will get a taste of what it feels like to step into a bigger leadership role at West Point.

Plebe-Parent Review is a parade you will want to see. The formation will consist of plebes from each of the 36 companies, in platoon-size formations (4 x 8). The companies will march in order (Company A1-Company I4) led by the brigade staff. The color guard marches in between the 2nd and 3rd regiments. Parents/guests will observe from the edge of the apron in front of Eisenhower and MacArthur Barracks

There is a beautiful formal dinner on Saturday.  Don’t be embarrassed to bring a tote bag with nicer shoes and wear boots when walking between buildings.  The tote bag also comes in handy to carry home your souvenir glasses.  If you remember to bring a couple pair of tube socks, the glasses are more likely to arrive home safely.

Here’s the link to the dress code for that evening.  There are lots of dress exchange options.  Please let me know if you want to know more about that.

Double check with your cadet that they have planned for the dinner which will happen in the Mess Hall.  If you are bringing more than the allotted number, sometimes they are able t ask a friend in company to help with seats.  This varies by company.

If you’re open to it, you may consider asking your son/daughter if they have anyone in company that will not have parents with them that weekend.  It’s a generous offer so that cadet feels more included in the weekend and for you, it’s great way to get to know some company mates.

Don’t forget your WPPCMI Nametags and t-shirts to represent.
