CHILI PARTY

On Wednesday evening, the class skiers had a chili party in the CP condo and afterwards held the annual general meeting of the Class of 1959 ski team, with the Ski Czar presiding. Howard handed out several ad hoc prizes and then we got down to some serious business: where to meet next year.

Some exotic suggestions were made, such as Yellow Knife, Moose Jaw and Gunnison. I even suggested Hunter Mountain in the Catskills, close to our alma mater. Nobody took me seriously, although I maintain that the idea has some merit. In the end, nothing was decided. Howard will probably push us to some rational decision in a few months.

After the serious stuff, I was able to auction off my cow hat to Karla Moellering, praise the Lord!

Let’s look at a few pix.

Picture 33. Elaine Guthrie and Eileen Stiles in the kitchen, putting together a bowl of salad. Actually, Eileen was the Chilimeister. Working on the well-known premise that chili always tastes better on the second day, she prepared it a day ahead. Gigi Goodpasture and Christa Klein also helped with the preparation.

Picture 34. Christa Klein on KP duty, too.

Picture 35. Valentina, her son Robert and Nadine Beech (in the Veronica Lake hair-do).

Picture 36. Tom Seybold and his wife Karen. Note the great hat – soon to belong to Karla Moellering – atop the armoire.

Picture 37. Scarfing down that chili. Ski hard: life’s short.
