BASE
AREA:
Park
City is a former mining town, so the architectural theme for the base area is
“old mining town.” The pictures were snapped from the balcony of our condo and
you can see some of the slopes, too.
Picture
1. General view of the
base resort area
Picture
2. Some of the slopes
and the main Payday lift
Picture 3. The slope on the left was
the venue (I think) for the women’s giant slalom during the 2002 Winter
Olympics.
Picture 4. More ski slopes. The big
broad boulevard in the middle is called Home Run and is the usual route back to
the bottom at the end of the day. The small red objects are fences intended to
enmesh warp-speed snowboarders before they enter the slow-speed area.
Picture 5. Gigi Goodpasture and a
friendly bear. Not strictly a base area photo, but taken instead in Park City.
