MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS DUE BY JUNE 30, 2003

Annual membership dues are due by June 30 of each year. The ideal time to “re-up” is at the June picnic to be held on June 7. Remember to receive the Plebe-Parent Survival Manual or Firstie Manual you must be a member in good standing. Also, if you want to see your cadet’s picture and name in the Club’s annual salute to graduating seniors in the Howitzer, you must have been a member for your cadet’s entire West Point career. A membership application is attached for your convenience. Fill it out and bring it with your check to the June picnic. Parent memberships are still a bargain at $30 per year and Associate Memberships for relatives and friends are available at $20 per year. Associate members receive all of the benefits that parent members receive (except the right to vote or hold office). Associate Memberships are great gifts and a good way to keep the extended family and friends informed. If you wish to receive a discount by paying in advance for all four years, the rate is $100.00 for regular membership and $60.00 for associate memberships.

TROOP PACKAGES

By Peggy & Howard Swanson

Our club sent four care packages to troops still overseas in either Iraq or Afghanistan. The 4-5 lb. boxes contained snacks, stationary, foot powder, waterless soap gel, disposable wipes, a camera or a card game, Ziploc bags, hand lotion, and duct tape. After calling around, Peggy was able to find two alumni cadets from our own club, one unknown WP alumnus, and one ROTC grad Air Force (gasp!) LT. The latter is a young man whose father is the Senior Army Instructor for Sarasota High School (a counter part of Howard's). Howard has hiked the Appalachian trial with him, his father, and our son Mark. Howard will hike again this year with Col. Thibault. The soldiers are:

            1LT Robert Stanton USMA '00
            1LT Thomas Adkins '01
            1LT Christopher Smith '00
              LT Samuel Thibault

Thanks for the contributions.
