WELCOME PCWP MEMBERS!
The first General Membership meeting of the 2017 -2018 year was held at the West Point Train Station from 3 – 5pm, Sunday, September 17.
It was a pot luck fare event. Members brought crock pots of chili, meat balls, veggies and there were baked goods to share with other parents. Groups of Cadets stopped by, too. Coffee, tea and cider were provided.
Pete Russell, PCWP President, welcomed the members, talked briefly about the recent national Leadership meeting for the West Point Clubs. He introduced Deb Dalton, Director, Office of West Point Parents, and Shelisa Baskerville, WPAOG Representative. Both brought our group up to date on how their offices will be working more closely together and with the Parents Clubs. A few changes are on the horizon, but in the long run, it sounds like parents will have more coordinated information about what is happening at and for the Academy and the Clubs will have more resources.
Pete and other members of Club leadership continued the meeting by talking about plans for PCWP in the upcoming year including the Tour and Taste of the Hudson cruise and brunch, Sunday October 15th. At the Sunday, November 19 meeting, 3PM, (Location TBD), we will prepare Boodle Boxes for deployed graduates and for the Global Leaders. December: West Point Christmas Spectacle (Dec. 3 – free at Eisenhower Hall). A post dining event is being planned. 2018: A gathering with the Global Leaders, a Theatre evening and the awesome Winter Ball, February 24, 2018 at The West Point Club. All are all in the works!
No General Meeting in October but look for info on Tailgates and gatherings in E-Blasts, on PCWP Facebook page and here, the website.
Any member interested in helping with a meeting or coordinating part of an event should get in touch with a member of the PCWP Board. Pete and Carolyn are actively seeking members interested in heading up or working on the Winter Ball Committee.
