Bill STONE sent a picture of John and Mo DUBIA's retirement ceremony at Ft Myers and Norm COONEY's long overdue photos of classmates frolicking in the SW some months ago also grace this column.

Duke and Diane ALBRECHT are now living at 5840 Sam Snead Trail, Billings, MT 59106 after relocating from Washington. "Grandpa" Leigh WHEELER includes a photo of Army's youngest hockey fan, Nicholas David Wheeler, son of Jen and David Wheeler who live in Cincinnati.

Thanks to Frank and Sandy HOCK we found out that Bob and Lynn FAZEN were presented the Paul Harris Fellow Award by a New Jersey civic group for providing vision and leadership within their community after a devastating fall flood. Bob and Lynn organized volunteers and relief efforts for flood victims and small businesses. Bob and Lynn have started a non-profit organization, We Will Rebuild, Inc. to address the damage not covered by federal, state and county agencies. Bob is on the Board of Directors as the the CFO. "Our efforts have taken a great deal of my time as well as Lynn's. She has been running the day-to-day operations of We Will Rebuild, Inc. and has gotten significant "face time" from the New York and New Jersey media...we plan to operate over the next 3-5 years to recover from the flood damage. While the American Red Cross, FEMA, United Way, Salvation Army and many religious organizations have been a great help, there is still much to be done. Estimates of damage to Bound Brook exceed $77 million and over $140 million of damage was done to the entire flood area of the Raritan Valley." We all know Bob's infectious optimism and personal magnetism inspired others to overcome adversity and reestablish the commercial and industrial center.

John and Lonnie CARROW dined with the Fazens after the A-N game which "was much better than the game." Bob still runs The Fazen Organization, managing commercial properties and construction projects in New York City. The Fazens now have 3 grandsons and a 4th on the way in June 2000.

Joel and Marge GARTENBERG headed for Europe in December to visit Michelle, Max, and three grandchildren in Wiesbaden. Joel tried skiing in Garmisch after a 25 year layoff, but apparently nothing broke--only bruised and sore. This was Joel's first visit to Germany since 1981. Molly and Billy FRAZIER cruised to the Canary Islands during the holidays to avoid the damp, dreary weather in England and the destructive storms on mainland Europe.

Brian ASHBAUGH wrote from Pittsburgh about his second grandson, Logan Reid Ashbaugh, who was born on October 22, 1999, to son James and his wife Tracy. Logan weighed in at 9lbs 4oz. He is the first child for James and Tracy. Brian's other son, Rob, and his wife, Colleen, have a son, Matthew, who was three in mid-December. Rob, Colleen and Matthew live in NC where Rob is a VP at First Union Bank. Brian has worked for the same law firm in Pittsburgh for over 22 years.

Billie and Don ROSE are about to become grandparents for the 4th and 5th time. Daughter Amy and husband Steve are expecting in April '00. They have two boys, Robert, 10 and Tyler,5 and are stationed at Ft Gordon. Steve is a training NCO in a training support Bn. Don's other daughter, Nicole, and husband Lee are expecting in June. They have one boy, Adam, 2. Lee is a free lance interpreter for the deaf in Wilson, NC. Don and Billie "will definitely be making the trek to NC and GA to see those new grandbabies." In September Don and Billie took their neighbor, Howard Kane and his wife to see West Point. His father, Oneal KANE '30, ate in Grant Hall since Washington Hall was being built during his cadet days. Thayer Hall was the Riding Hall during the 30s and his dad was a member of the Polo Team and participated in the Olympics after graduation. Don reported young Kane was thrilled with the visit since it was his first trip to West Point. Until that visit all he knew was what he read and saw in his dad's yearbook.

Jim and Linda GARDNER sent an update from info in the last Assembly. Pfizer's "hostile acquisition bid" for Warner-Lambert in early November may have scared off rival American Home Products and Pfizer may eventually prevail. Jim may just get what he wishes for and "as they say -- the real work begins!!"

I understand that Roger and Inga THOMPSON have retired, but so far no details or photos of his retirement.

Russ and Janice GRANT, Jim and Robin HALLUMS, and Paul and Kathy MLAKAR met during the Army-Memphis game and although the Black Knights lost, they reported "a good time was had by all."

Steve and Barbara Ohotnicky are still in South Bend, IN where Steve is a global commodity manger for Whirlpool Corp. Son Pete, USAFA '92 is C-130 pilot. Pete is accomplished trialthele, finished 62nd in Hawaii Ironman improving his time by thirty minutes from last year and led AF team to victory. Pete was a track, X-C, and cycling team member as a cadet, as well as an all-state high school swimmer. Daughter Sue is married and is also a speech pathologist in Chicago. Steve and Barbara have three grandchildren, twins Annie and Colette and seven month old Charlie.

Troy and Elke SCOTT visited with Jim and Terrell LEE in Albuquerque, NM during the International Balloon Fiesta. Troy and Lee crewed a couple of days for a friend, Rick Bores, in a field of 950 hot-air balloons, which according to Troy was a lot of "hot air," but the wives still believed the stories about the trip.
