Since its founding in
1919, the American Ordnance
Association has been a leading advocate of military and industrial
preparedness. This role, voluntarily assumed, has been carried on by an
ever increasing membership who believe that if America is to be a force
for peace, we must first have the power to keep it.
With this our goal, we share with you the job of
providing such power.
Your responsibilities, of course, will be as officers in the United
States Army. Our responsibilities will continue to be the necessary
work that will assure America a strong defense, second to none today.
In this, AOA serves as a vital link, coordinating the efforts of
industry and military people through such means as our--
- TECHNICAL DIVISIONS & SECTIONS, where several
thousand highly
qualified experts provide valuable industry know-how to those defense
establishments where such help is needed. They study, advise and help
solve many of the nation's most pressing armament problems, at no cost
to the government.
- ORDNANCE, THE COMMON DEFENSE, ARMAMENT and other
publications-
authoritative sources of technical and scientific data for America's
engineers, scientists and other ordnance professionals.
- POSTS & CHAPTERS which create closer contacts
with members around
the country--keep them abreast of defense developments.
- MEETINGS AND WEAPONS DEMONSTRATIONS at national and
local levels,
which spread ordnance knowledge--enlist support for AOA's program of
preparedness from those to whom it should also be a vital concern.
In these and other ways AOA proudly works to help forge a chain of
power that will keep America well ahead of the forces out to bury us.
To this cause we welcome Cadets of the United States Military Academy
as leaders of these forces of freedom.
