If you have never been to West Point, then I'm sure you would like some directions to USMA. I usually take a different route from the one given if I fly into Newark; by taking the New Jersey Turnpike instead of the Garden State Parkway, you get onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway much further south. This is especially pretty in the fall. However, I haven't driven it ina while, so I don't want to risk giving bad directions. The AOG site linked above has bus/train route information from Newark on its FAQ.

More information about USMA for tourists is located here, including a tourist guide from the USMA Public Affairs Office; information about the West Point Cemetery, which is located outside the Old Cadet Chapel; and the West Point Museum, which is considered to be the oldest and largest diversified public collection of miltaria in the Western Hemisphere.  Images of a few of the graves found in the West Point Cemetery are located at Find-A-Grave and the PoughkeepsieJournal.

Some parents of cadets in the Class of 2002 have put together a web page called West Point 2002 Class Memories.  Although it's a bit slow-loading, I think the highlight is the photo page.  When I was a cadet, I truly never realized how beautiful West Point is.

2002 marks the bicentennial of the founding of the United States Military Academy.  In anticipation of that momentous event, festivities have already begun at West Point.  In addition, a "cyber-celebration" has also begun. Click here to go to the USMA Bicentennial Web Site

Scott A. Tackett, Sr., the father of two recent West Point graduates, has an excellent web site called A Tribute to West Point.  His site is definitely a "don't miss" for people interested in West Point and the Military Academy.

The Poughkeepsie Journal Online has a web page called "Enjoy the Hudson Valley", which has a lot of tourist information, including three articles about West Point. Some of the information in the articles is repeated, but there are also some nice images. The articles are titled "West Point", "USMA, West Point", and "West Point, Living Postcard".
