West Point Society of Birmingham & Central Alabama
Home

Dear Prospective Member,

Our local West Point Society is an active one. We extend to you a cordial invitation to join with us in enjoying the heritage that we share. We meet monthly (March and December excepted) for a noon luncheon. The March meeting is our annual Founders Day celebration, and our December meeting is a joint one with the USNA Society to view the Army/Navy game on wide screen TV. To see the current meeting arrangements, click here.

We vary the content of the luncheon meetings in order to cover a wide range of subjects. As a general rule, however, we feature subjects of particular interest to all graduates. As an example, when the Wall Street Journal broke the story on the relief of the head of the Department of Behavioral Science & Leadership questioning whether the "warrior spirit" was dead at West Point, we invited COL Hallums (the relieved department head) to speak to us. Two months later, Dean (BG) Lamkin accepted our invitation to present West Point’s side of the story. Each summer we have at least one area Cadet on leave speak to us.

Surely the thing that we enjoy most about the meetings is the camaraderie. Many West Point societies are run like quasi military units. That is simply not our style. The meetings are friendly and relaxed. Membership is open to graduates and ex-cadets.

Business commitments prevent many of our members from regularly attending luncheon meetings, but we keep them informed via our monthly newsletters. Annual dues are $25.00. (These cover postage, some Founders Day expenses, and other expenses.) We hope that you will join with us and will attend as many meetings as possible. Should you have any questions, please call me at 870-8680. For a membership application, click here.

Sincerely,

James A. Patton, Jr.
