Meetings are held monthly, except in December and March, on the third Monday of the month.  The meeting time is 1200 hours.  Meeting are held in the headquarters building of Alabama Power Company ("APCo"), 500 North 18th Street, Birmingham.  The meetings will be held in one of the APCo meeting rooms in the cafeteria area of the headquarters building.  A schedule of meeting dates for the next year follows this text.

Meeting notices are mailed or emailed monthly to members.  If meeting arrangements have to be changed, members will be notified.

APCo's Corporate HQ occupies the entire block bounded by 6th Avenue North and 7th Avenue North between 17th Street North and 18th Street North in downtown Birmingham.  A map showing the location of the building and access routes is at the bottom of this page.

The APCo visitor parking lot is normally available for our use. The lot is located across 18th Street from the main entrance to the APCo building; it abuts the rear of the Greyhound bus station. Entrance is from 7th Avenue North. Access is controlled by a gate. Pushing the button on the speaker box at the gate connects to a person who can open the gate. Tell them you are attending a meeting of the West Point Society, sponsored by Earl Cooper. The lot is small, and its capacity might be exceeded if we had a really large turnout. Parking on the street is usually available, and there are various commercial decks in the vicinity. (The map below was prepared for our '03 Founders Day. It implies that people should park in the Alabama Power deck: this was appropriate for Founders Day, but it is not appropriate for the monthly meetings.)

Once you are parked, proceed towards the APCo HQ building (away from the Greyhound Station) located across 18th Street North from the visitor lot.  You should see the two large doors marking the entry to the APCo atrium.  Then follow walking directions below.

For those walking, enter the APCo HQ block on the 18th Street side between 6th Avenue North and 7th Avenue North.  The entrance is through two large doors in the middle of the block.  Once inside, proceed straight ahead and then take a right turn to enter the serving line area of the APCo cafeteria.

Once in the APCo cafeteria, pick your food from one of the many options and then proceed to the cashiers to pay for your selections.  As soon as you exit the cashier area, look to your left to see a series of rooms which are set aside for group lunches and meetings.  Our group will generally be in the Light Room which is the second room on the left.
