CLASS OF 2006

“NEVER FALTER NEVER QUIT”

Matthew Green: Matt is finishing his plebe year very strong. We continue to be grateful that he received that last minute appointment and that he has lived up to the confidence placed in him. Thank you again to all who prayed for him. It was a blessing for Matt and Micah to be in the same regiment this year but Matt has been scrambled to C-4 for the rest of his time at USMA. They will just have to walk farther to get to each other's rooms. Matt felt important to be invited to a reception that the Supe gave for all cadets who had volunteered their time this year. Matt had volunteered to escort candidates and have them overnight with him. He recieved a gift certificate for brunch at the Thayer. Food is always welcome. He also received an extra pass over Mother's Day weekend for volunteering to help at Sandhurst. That was wonderful since we went up for a weeklong visit over Mother's Day. The boys both had lots of duties and homework but we treasured every few minutes we could spend with them.  Matt took his pass so he could spend the night with us at the Five Star and so we could go to every cadet's favorite—the Palisades Mall. He wanted to be out in the normal world. Matt can't wait to come home and plans to spend lots of time at the beach on his skim board before returning to Camp Buckner.

P.S. If you want to know about other restaurants besides the old favorite Schades please ask me. Since we have been several times this year and also got stuck up there in the blizzard with the Fisher's, we have ventured out and tried lots of other places to eat. I can tell you where to get the best wraps; the best french fries and some other trivia.

Carl Fisher: Carl had a good spring semester. He has been busy with tennis, lots of traveling for away matches. We saw him over spring break as the tennis team traveled to Florida. Army beat Navy during regular season play and again during the Patriot League Tournament! Carl was unable to participate in the tournament due to shin splints, which developed into a stress fracture. Now that Carl has completed boxing class he will do rehab to hopefully heal before Buckner.

Promotion has had a huge impact on Carl's level of 'freedom'. When we talk to him during ESP (study period) we hear other cadets in his room talking and laughing (cutting up), where as before promotion the background noise was nonexistent.

Carl is looking forward to nearly three weeks of vacation: going to the beach, sleeping, eating, sleeping, watching movies and sleeping. He is anticipating Buckner and is excited about his summer company and AY company for next year.
