KEEP YOUR EYE OUT FOR

Soldiers Magazine plans to publish a cover story feature on USMA in the March 2002 edition.

Forbes Magazine and American Heritage magazine will publish a special West Point Supplement in August 2002.  The Forbes segment will be part of their annual “500 Best” edition.

PARENTS CLUBS

GOALS:

1.       To provide a means of communication between the Academy and cadet parents.

2.       To offer opportunities for fellowship and mutual support among parents whose sons and daughters are under going a rugged academic, physical, and military training program.

3.       To inform the local area about the United States Military academy.

4.       To promote interest in attending the Academy.

Although parents clubs are a relatively new tradition, the oldest one is the WPPC of Michigan.  They celebrated 40 years this past year.  Our own club is about ten years old.

  USMA BICENTENNIAL STAMP

March 16, 2002 the U.S. Postal Service will release the commemorative USMA Bicentennial stamp on the academy’s Founder’s Day.

The USMA Bicentennial Stamp Subcommittee has been active for ten years.  These volunteers have focused their efforts on applying to the Postmaster General for a West Point Stamp commemorating the 200th anniversary of USMA.  Recently, the Postmaster General announced its decision to issue a stamp to commemorate each service academy every fifty years.

FUN AND MISCHIEF AT WEST POINT

One evening a Yearling antagonized two Cows and ended up tied up in a duffel bag on the elevator.  He rode the elevator up and down for about 20 minutes until someone released him.
