pick up a car and drive back.  Oh the joys of Firstiehood!  The rest of the summer was spent as BN XO for “Viking Thrust” at Camp Buckner.  Jennifer is looking forward to Ring Weekend and the arrival of three hometown friends, both parents and her brother and sister-in-law.

AARON MORRIS (G-2): Aaron has had a good summer.  It started with finding out he made the Dean’s List (the right one) and continued through Airborne training and CTLT with the 5th Cav. at Ft. Hood, as an infantry platoon leader.  He is really looking forward to his Firstie year and Ring Weekend, where he will be joined by his parents and date.

ERIC MUSGRAVE (B-1): Eric did his CTLT at Ft. Polk, LA with an Armor Division.  He says he learned a lot and had a good time.  Eric is looking forward to seeing Mom, Dad and girlfriend at Ring Weekend Celebrations.

WILLIAM PERKINS (C-1): Bill has had one of the best summers ever this year.  He spent the first month in Washington, D.C. working in a congressman’s office.  Then home for a week before heading to Kuwait to work with a Special Forces unit that is training the Kuwait army.  He is looking forward to getting back to West Point for his Firstie year and Ring Weekend.

KELLY SMITH: Kelly had an interesting summer.  He and his Dad road-tripped home after graduation.  He then spent about two weeks at home before flying to Ft. Smith to attend Air Assault.  Then he flew home to spend about eight days before driving to Ft. Stewart, GA to spend a month with an explosive ordinance company.  He enjoyed his time there, and seems to think that the

Regular Army is a pretty good situation relatively.  Maybe this is the point of all of his training.  Kelly plans to drive back to the Point on the 11th of August to get ready for his last year.  He says that he likes the look of Firstie Brass, and finds it hard to believe that he has less than one year to go until graduation.

LAURA WESTLEY: No news received.

CLASS OF 2002

GRAHAM ANDERSON (H-3): No news received.

MISTY CANTWELL (F-1): Misty enjoyed CTLT at Ft. Riley, KS, found the Pentagon and the Washington, DC area very interesting, and enjoyed Airborne.  Her parents went to Ft. Benning to see her graduation.  She is very much looking forward to her Cow year.

ROB DECKER (A-1): No news received.

DAVID NELSON (F-3): David finished Airborne training with five jumps and no injuries.  He then had a week long mission trip to New Mexico and a week at home, then back to CTLT with the Airborne Rangers at Ft. Benning, where he got more jumps.   He was able to spend two more

NED HULL (G-1): Ned completed his detail at CBT as a member of the cadet cadre on July 22nd and spent the following week at home relaxing.  He believes he learned quite a bit from the experience and had a number of comments about how much easier the New Cadets have it--seems like we have heard that before!  He was at Camp Smith until August 11 in Air Assault School.  It rained most of the time there.  His brother and grandmother were able to attend his graduation from Air Assault School.  He will stay in N.Y. without any further breaks and go right into Reorgy Week and the academic year.

JON LAVENDEIRA (F-4): Jon enjoyed his Buckner detail and attended Airborne School at Ft. Benning.  He is looking forward to being a Cow this year.

DAVID NELSON (F-3): David finished Airborne training with five jumps and no injuries.  He then had a week long mission trip to New Mexico and a week at home, then back to CTLT with the Airborne Rangers at Ft. Benning, where he got more jumps.   He was able to spend two moredays at home in Tampa before going back to West Point on August 13 to begin his Cow year.  He is doing very well in all training.

NICOLE ROBBINS (B-3): Nichole spent CTLT in Hawaii with the 25th Infantry Division and her parents had the opportunity to visit her while she was there.  Obviously a hard ship detail for the parents!

ABRAHAM SKELLENGER (A-3):   Abraham completed and enjoyed CTLT in Korea.  His family were the recipients of several nice gifts from there.  He then went to Airborne School at Ft. Benning, GA.  His parents, sister and grandmother, were able to watch several jumps and attended his graduation.  He is looking forward to his Cow year and being half done.

CLASS OF 2003

ANDREW APPLEGET (G-2): Andrew is in good spirits.  He really liked Ft. Knox.  He is considering ADA and Artillery as possible branches.  He survived infantry week and was one of the few who were not killed.  His company had the highest percent who passed.  He completed all of the requirements to become a corporal.  His fun week was in engineering where they did a live fire ambush with Claymore mines and stuff that blew up trees, etc.

DANE BUCKLEY: No news received.

GUSTAVO COBEAGA: No news received.

REGINA GRIMES: No news received.
