About the High Desert Labrador Retriever Club Of CA.

Activities from our first year included a breed seminar by Winnie Limbourne of Wingmaster Labradors, an eye clinic, a breed and obedience match, a lecture on vaccination protocol by Dr. Linda Allen, DVM, as well as several fun get togethers.

We have even accomplished more in our second year. We received our articles of incorporation as well as our non-profit status. In addition we held our 2nd eye clinic, a wonderful "Beginning Field Day Training Seminar with Wendy Pennington, a "How to Buy a Puppy Seminar" and two more successful conformation matches.

Our third year was a great one.

We expanded our eye clinic to a health clinic and were able to offer vaccinations, microchips & tattooing in addition to the 108 eye exams performed by Dr. Lipton.

The big news came on August 14 when we received word from the AKC that we are now a fully accredited AKC Specialty club. This means that we can now schedule our matches and make plans for our first specialty scheduled for December 2001.

We held a wonderful match on the evening of December 5th at the Antelope Valley Fair Grounds. Even though there was the threat of snow we were warm and cozy.

The Antelope Valley Kennel Club show was the next day and the AVKC had graciously allowed us to use one the indoor rings for our match.

We had heaters to keep us warm, a kitchen to feed all who were hungry and even our own private and heated restrooms - a luxury indeed.

The great news is this looks as if it will be our permanent December match site and will also become the site for our Specialty as well.

The best thing is that our membership is now over 150 wonderful Lab Lovers.

We are glad to welcome so many terrific folks into our family.
