Dear Classmates and Friends of '95:
Greetings from Chris Green. I am currently in Germany
in a support role for 1-10th Special Forces in Stuttgart. I have been here in
Germany since graduation so I have to concentrate real hard to speak English again (yea,
right). When you come to Germany, it takes about 15 minutes to learn your first two
phrases, "Ich mochte ein bier bitte" (I would like a beer please) and "Ich
mochte zwei bier bitte" (I would like two beers please). However, it's kind of
depressing four years later when you realize you've only added "where's the
bathroom" to your arsenal. I can say those three sentences as good as any
German.
I apologize for not writing to the class on the web page earlier, but I think my unit has
me on some frequent flyer program. If you like to travel, go SF. If you like
staying home and possibly staying married, don't go SF (ha, that is only a joke and one
that I will probably pay for).
I would like to thank Anthony Iasso and Mike Jason for doing such an incredible job with
the web site and the Assembly. Their motivation has really rubbed off on other
classes. They are definitely an example for all class information officers to
follow. Also, I would like to thank Jeff Powell and his staff for all of their hard
work with the 5th year reunion. I realize that 5th year reunions historically peak
out at 25% attendance, so I'm not going to sound like a high school cheerleader and say
"rah rah ray cheer, come back for the 5th year" or anything cheezy like that.
But I will say that we are going to have a great time and I would really like
seeing all of you there. We will be coming out with information in both the Assembly
and on the web site.
Special thanks to Dan Nettesheim for representing the class in 1998 at a critical AOG
meeting at West Point. I received many comments from the senior leadership of AOG on
how well he represented us.
We are going to start a voting procedure on the web site. The purpose of this is
primarily so I can take your issues to AOG and know where the class stands as a whole.
There's always going to be that one classmate that wants to erect a giant phallic
symbol on the parade field and he/she's usually the one that contacts the class officers
everyday. After 5 years, you start believing that is what the class wants to give back to
WP. There's nothing wrong with 20 foot statues of genitalia, but I want the class
officers to be in tune with the class as a whole. Also, every year we will submit
recommendations for Thayer Award and
Dinstinguished Graduate candidates to AOG. Start thinking of possible candidates.
If only Jerry Springer was a graduate.
Thanks to everyone for all the letters and emails and interest the class as a whole.
Feel free to always write either myself or Brian Foldenauer (vice president).
See you all next year (subliminal come-back-to-the-reunion messages beginning now)
