1:
I did some research last night on turning ppt into avi's. This is a
real problem for a lot of people - dating back a long time. I
saw that people posted about 4-5 different solutions - but no one
was happy with the results. Always something messed up (quality, or
the program did not convert the transitions, etc.). I did see one
solution that intrigued me - MS Producer - a program put out by MS
that was supposed to do just that ppt---> AVI. I opened up my ppt
and went to the help and asked about MS Producer. Up it came and
asked if I wanted to go to the MS site to get it. Yes, sure - so off
I went pleased as punch - - - until I hit Uncle Bill's house! They
no longer offer it. But of course that does not mean it is not
available :-) So I located a copy of it on the web and downloaded
it. I have not tried it yet, but if it works I will burn a copy of
it and get it back to you. If you can get a decent avi file of your
ppt presentation then that's another good tool.
-->corrected with *.pps<--
2. I went down to storage and found what might be an Amazing
resource - A few years back I bought a copy of "FrontPage 2002:
Inside/Out - an MS book as thick as a large print KJV Bible. It has
a CD that comes with it. I don't know if it would help you are not -
I did not see anything specifically about ppt and FrontPage, but
there is a ton of stuff?
Responses to the feedback below:
1. I saw several references to pps files when I went looking, but I
did not dig into it.
2. The autoplay.inf file is more about starting your CD than in
starting a particular application within the CD - at least that is
my understanding.
BTW - I just went looking on Ppoints (I am running Office 2003) help
files, interesting - these are different save options:
A. PowerPoint Show .pps A presentation that will always open in
Slide Show view rather than in Normal view.
-->corrected with *.pps<--
B. Single File Web Page .mht; mhtml A Web page as a single file with
an .htm file and all supporting files, such as images, sound files,
cascading style sheets, scripts, and more. Good for e-mailing a
presentation. (maybe you should try this . .
.)
C. Web Page .htm; html A Web page as a folder with an
.htm file and all supporting files, such as images, sound files,
cascading style sheets, scripts, and more. Good for posting on a
site or editing with FrontPage or other HTML editor. (this
is what you have now)
D. Note You can copy
one or more presentations along with supporting files onto a CD
using the Package for CD feature in PowerPoint
2003. Find a link to the Package for CD
feature in the See Also box, which is visible when
you are connected to the Internet
Here is another way to get the ppt
to your website (taken from the PPoint Help again :-)
