2025 Operation Holiday Care Packages

2025 Operation Holiday Care Packages

“You should know…your kindness has touched the lives of Soldiers in this theatre of operations and serves as a powerful reminder of the support and connection we have with all our families, loved ones and friends (for my Soldiers, this includes new ones like you) even when we are far from home.  It absolutely strengthens our pride to serve our great nation in the world’s most formidable Army!”

-Commanding Colonel M. (Middle East)

For the 18th year, the West Point Parents Club of Michigan will carry forward the Holiday Care Package Program founded by Lou Steenstra. Since its beginning, more than 12,000 stockings have been shipped to U.S. service men and women stationed overseas—across every rank and branch.

This effort has been possible thanks to the dedication of members and moms who have sewn thousands of stockings and gift bags, and Scouts from across the state who have written heartfelt thank-you letters reminding our soldiers that their service truly matters.  Our faithful major donor for the fourth year is Meijer, without which the high-quality items we are able to ship to our troops would not be possible.

Knowing that our collective gifts bring joy and encouragement during the holidays is powerful—and we invite you to be part of it again this year.

How You Can Support

  • Submit a Name: If you have a loved one serving abroad this holiday season, please share their name and contact information using this link. We proudly support all troops of every branch and rank, and if your loved one is a West Point graduate, please let us know.

  • Donate: Due to new USPS shipping requirements, we cannot accept small in-kind items this year.  Each of our 850 boxes must meet strict standards for content, origin, and weight. However, your financial support is urgently needed to cover rising shipping costs, with holiday surcharges beginning four weeks earlier than usual.

  • Honor a Loved One: Donations may be made in honor or memory of someone special. Use this link when giving.

  • Please consider shopping at Meijer to show your support.  You can mention your appreciation of their support to the store management when you are shopping.

Important Dates

  • Name Submission deadline: October 15

  • Packing Events: November 1 (Sterling Heights) and November 3 (Grand Rapids)

As a 501(c)(3) organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Together, we can continue this tradition of gratitude and support for those who serve our nation.

Thank you for helping us lift their spirits this holiday season,

Rebecca Ufford, Chair
