The picture above shows a Saturday parade in the old Central Area of Barracks.
Looking closely, it appears that all cadets in the picture are of the same size and they are.
This merely shows how the sizing of cadet companies gave the impression that all cadets
were of the same size when viewed from afar.
The term Bandbox Review came from the smallness of the old Central Area and 'fitting'
the entire Corps into it along with the USMA Band and the Reviewing Party. Because
it was very close, some remembered sitting close to the Band at a club, hence the term
the Bandbox Review. You will also note, observers had to stand on the stoops of the
barracks to observe the review because there was no room on the area cement.
