Rendering of the new USMA Library as viewed from the walk between Eisenhower Barracks and Doubleday Field.  The Center for Enhanced Performance and Center for Teaching Excellence will occupy the first floor.  A coffee shop will be located on a level between the 1st and 2nd floors.

The Library will occupy the basement and floors 2 through 6.  The 6th floor will have an expanded West Point Room suitable for lectures, receptions (small pantry is included in the design) and balconies overlooking the Hudson and the Plain.

The design keeps traditional features such as towers and granite facade will adding a large amount of glass.  Each study carrel will have a window and the building corners are glass.

Egads!  What happened here?!?!  In two days the trees were cleared for the route of the new Mills Road-Stony Lonesone Road connector at the north end of Michie Stadium.  This is looking from Stony Lonesome Road down towards the stadium.

View of the clearing operation from Delafield Road.

Here's the view from Mills Road as you pass the Air Memorial going south towards the stadium.  When finished, the road way will begin to rise in the vicinity of where this photo was taken in order to minimize the slope of the road grade.

This big chipper was used to grind up any trees and limbs less than 30 inches in diameter.  Anything larger was carried off by the contractor (some nice hardwood logs can be seen in the photo . . .

Army football players should be able to tell you where this plaque can be found (a little maintenance is needed on this plaque . . .).

Another football motivational plaque near the entrance to Blaik Field (in Michie Stadium).

The Astroturf was replaced this summer with a new artificial surface (AstroPlay?).  Visible in the photo is the rubber subsurface poured in place and a piece of the new covering.  This covering has "blades" of grass.

View of the "grass".  After placing this covering, small pieces of ground up sneakers were spread over the field.  These pieces are like small pieces of dirt and add to the cushioning.  After walking on the new surface for nearly an hour, the adjoining concrete felt as hard as, well, concrete.  Unbelievable!!!

The new field from the east stands.  It looks green too.  The players really love the new surface and the team actually practices on it.

View of the south end zone of Blaik Field with one of the new Army marks.

A perfect landing on the 50 yard line by the Cadet Parachute Team before the Army-Cincinnati football game.  The game was hard fought with Cincinnati making the winning touchdown with 10 seconds remaining in the game.
