15 March: Deadline for submission of applications for Class of 1959
Scholarship, awarded to a child of a member of the class, who is a junior, senior, or post-graduate student enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. (Details and application form on the Class Home Page) (Deadline is normally 15 March but contact Powell for an exception this year)

15 APRIL: Annual Memorial Ceremony at the Wall and Annual General Membership Meeting. Class mates will meet at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC for a ceremony honoring Frank Gercz and Mike Nash. This will be following by a Brunch General Membership meeting at the ARMY-Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA.

19 MAY: ARMED FORCES DAY CLASS PICNIC: Liz & Tom Munz have volunteered to host a picnic at their lovely home on this year's Armed Forces Day. This will be in lieu of the Annual A-1 & Friends Picnic which traditionally has been hosted the third weekend in May. The Munz's live at 1800 Holly Beach Farm Road, Annapolis, Maryland, overlooking Whitehall Bay on the western shore of the Chesapeake not far from the Bay Bridge (Route 50).

19 MAY: VERSACE MEMORIAL DEDICATION: There will be a ceremony to dedicate a Memorial for our Classmate Rocky Versace at 11:00 AM at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Our Classmate John Gurr will be the keynote speaker. A reception will immediately follow the dedication.

JUNE: Initiate dialogue via E-Mail on nominees for the Distinguished Graduate Award and the Thayer Award. Class Committee should make decision on same NLT August so nomination packets can be prepared and submitted by the November deadline.

19 AUGUST?: COW AFFIRMATION CEREMONY: Exact date TBD -- The Class of 2009 will affirm its commitment to the Army and incur a service obligation at the start of Cow year academics (class will probably begin Monday, 20 August 2007). The Affirmation Ceremony will take place in Thayer Hall at app. 1900 hours (7 PM). It would be appropriate for selected members of our Class to be present. During the ceremony, one of those members will speak to the Class about the significance of this event and the ’59-’09 coins our Class is presenting to each cadet as part of the affirmation process. 1 DECEMBER: ARMY - Navy Game at M&T Stadium in Baltimore, MD.
Note: Six Years ago in 2000 ARMY lost to Navy at the PSI Net Stadium (Same stadium - new name) 30-28 in Baltimore. It was a good game preceded by an outstanding Tail Gate party hosted by the West Point Society of Annapolis (WPSOA). The WPSOA will host another Tail Gate this year starting around noon. Kick Off is 4 PM. ARMY has lost to Navy the last 5 years and is due for a win. GO ARMY BEAT NAVY! 2nd Note: Many may need extra tickets (Yours truly included), so lets work together and get all who want to attend -- seats in the Class of '59 section.


DECEMBER: By the end of the year, if desired, be thinking of making arrangements to donate Rings for the Class Ring Memorial Program for the Class of 2009. The Ring Melt is scheduled for early March 2008. Suspense to have Rings at West Point is 31 January 2008!
