Brent's Work!

  • I work for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (Middle District of NC).  As the Assistant Director of Automation, I get to do all kinds of fun things - integrating NT, Novell, and Solaris, designing dynamic web pages, rewriting our legacy programs into web-enabled applications, and helping to provide user support.  The people and the learning environment are terrific!

  • Before that I worked for the Rockingham County Mental Health Center as the data processing supervisor.  Learned networking and the AS/400 while there.  The AS/400 is the quickest and most stable platform I've yet to work on. Enjoyed the job but county government has a sad budget compared to the Feds!
  • My work life started as an Infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division.  As part of my Army experience, I had the pleasure of traveling to Panama, Honduras, and many U.S. states.  Of course, the only touring we did was out in the woods, swamps, jungles, etc...  My first assignment was as the platoon leader for 2nd platoon, B company, 2-504 parachute infantry regiment.  I was blessed with intelligent, hard working soldiers.  From there, I became the Executive Officer for Headquarters Company, 82nd Airborne Division.  During Desert Storm, Division SOP determined that I was the rear detachment commander for my company and the MP company.  As such, I commanded a 250 soldier company for a year.  By Aug of 91, I'd had enough Army fun and became a nasty civilian.
  • Army schools included Airborne, Jumpmaster, and Ranger. Rangers lead the way!
