The Ugliest Home-made Target Contest is Over! No one entered so no one wins. You can read about it below. I couldn't make it any cheaper than free.

Not everyone can afford $300+ for a practice target.
So, for those thumb fingered garage inventors like myself, I'm making a
home on the web for those home-made disc golf baskets that I know are out
there. I will post all entries sent to me via email (JPEG format if possible)
and give everyone an opportunity to vote on the ugliest. Those of you who
wish to participate will have to beat my own worthy entry, the Portable
Ugly Lightweight Target (PULT). My PULT is designed to be carried along
for safari golf. It is made of a cheap red and blue umbrella, 1" PVC pipe,
yellow plastic chain and a plastic plant pot holder among other things.
It doesn't catch very well (about 60% of good putts) because of the plastic
chains but it beats imagining a basket or shooting at trees. Assembly instructions for the PULT.
Here's how it will work. I am extending the entry deadline
to July 15th. I will post a maximum of 2 pictures per entry and a short description.
Each entry is listed in the form below. Anyone who finds this page can vote for their favorite by clicking the appropriate button on the form and hitting send.
email.
I will run the contest until Halloween. If I get at least 5 entries by July 15th
I will award the following prizes.
Prizes
1st place (most votes) |
A genuine second run production model PULT manufactured by yours truly.
It may not catch worth a darn but it definitely will turn heads.
$35 in materials alone, not to mention expert craftsmanship. |
2nd place |
A new Innova Eagle Driver. As close as I can get to your choice of
color and weight at the Off Campus Bookstore where I get my discs. |
3rd place |
The most beat disc in my bag, my choice. |
All prizes will be shipped at my expense.
I decide what a legitimate target is. Generally, it has to
be designed to catch discs and more or less conform to the PDGA standard
dimensions. So don't send me a picture of a tree, or garbage can,
or fence post. A combination of the three might work.
One vote per person please.
My PULT will be a contestant but only for pride. The other top three
finishers get the prizes. The sooner you get your entries in, the sooner
they start getting votes, so the early bird may get the PULT. Remember, if I don't get at least five
entries by July 15th, it's no contest!
The entry fee is $0.00
This is supposed to be FUN!!!!
The Entries
As you can see my PULT is the only contestant so far. I'm going to pile up votes while the rest of you procrastinate about getting your pictures emailed to me. I am requiring emails just to keep the voting fair. I won't email you unless you ask me to and I definitely won't give anyone else your email address.
This is a picture of a not so ugly and very functional home made target.
I'll bet these make that beautiful "Ching" sound
whereas mine just rattles. My inspiration for making my own target came
from this gentleman's web page. Click on the picture to see how he made
them.
Email your contest
entries to me and I will post them!
