This day's route had us climb around 400 feet within the first 3/4 mile. Right after breakfast, we ran across a adolescent cinnamon colored black bear. He looked at us for a few minutes then ran off when he saw we were collectively bigger than he was. Shortly after we returned home, there was a bear attack at a camp a few miles north of where we were.
