It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, James Adams, who left us on November 5th at the age of 85 to be reunited with his wife Marylee in Heaven. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Jim married his high school sweetheart and was a proud graduate of the West Point Class of 1964.
A distinguished military career as an Airborne Ranger, he served with honor earning two Bronze Stars in Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Colonel, earning the Legion of Merit and several other distinguished medals along the way. He was revered for his leadership, integrity, and friendly nature. After his military service, he started a successful consulting business and was known for his natural talent for leadership and wealth of knowledge.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jim was a gifted woodworker and artist, always creating with his hands and generously sharing his creations with others. His kindness and willingness to give brought joy to many. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, the Order of the Hibernians, and cherished his time hosting West Point reunions and the annual Army-Navy game at his home for over 20 years.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the members of St. Andrews the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Order of the Hibernians, his fellow ROMEOs, and his West Point classmates for their unwavering support and friendship during his final months.
A funeral mass and memorial service will be held at a future date. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to Marylee and among our nation's heroes.
He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his kindness, leadership, and enduring spirit.
