Daniel L. Johnson, Ph.D.

Daniel L. Johnson received his B.Sc. degree in 1958 from the U.S. Military Academy, M.S.E.s in Aeronautical Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering in 1960 from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 1971 from the University of Colorado.

From 1971 to 1984 Dr. Johnson worked at the Air Force Medical Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. During this time he accomplished extensive research on infrasound, noise dosimetry, and noise induced hearing loss.

From 1984-1989, after retiring from the Air Force, Dr. Johnson worked at the Larson-Davis Laboratories as Chief Scientist.

From 1989 to 1997, he worked for EG&G at the U.S. Army Blast Overpressure Test Site. He was the principal Investigator for research determining the occupational limits for impulse and blast noise.

From Oct. 1997 to Jan. 1998, he worked for Larson-Davis Laboratories. He is now in the process of starting a company, Interactive Acoustics, Inc, that will make a variety of noise indicators, such as a classroom noise monitor. On 1 Jan. 1999,he, along with two other acousticians, founded Brüel Bertrand & Johnson Acoustics,Inc.

He currently is the Standards Director for the Acoustical Society of America. The ASA Standards operation is responsible for developing over 100 ANSI standards on Acoustics and Vibration. a member of the ACGIH Physical Agents TLV Committee, a member of the AIHA Noise Committee, and a member of the ASA Noise Committee and a non-voting member of the ASA Executive Council. He is a member of the INCE (Institute of Noise Control Engineering). Daniel is also a member of the NHCA (National Hearing Conservation Assosiation),SAE and ASTM.
