Today at EC I saw the techs remove the $.50 20/7 Joker Poker from a Multi Game VP machine near the high limit area. It appears all the Multi Game machines are being changed out to 9/6/4 DDB. I looked for $1 10/7 DB machine in the High Limit area, and it was gone as well, replaced by DDB. Another player mentioned that they were removing all the Joker Poker which paid 100 coins for a 4 of a kind. The EC revised their card club last year. Players are now rated by tiers which range from the highest of the four tiers, Diamond, to the lowest, Emerald.Their card also works a little differently than the cards at some other casinos. As you play, two separate accounts are building in the system; one account for points and one for comps. Points, which can be used for same day CB, build on a one point for one dollar basis, EXCEPT for 100% EV games which require $3 per each point. In addition to CB, the points can be used to pay for room, meals, gift shop etc. When points are used to pay restaurant charges, the bill is first reduced by 50%. OTOH, when comps are used to pay for meals, 100% of the cost of the bill is deducted from the comp account. The comp account builds slowly. New 25c circular bank at the south west corner of the casino has: 9/6 JoB, 10/7 DB, 9/5 SDB, 9/7 TDB, NSUD, 16/11 DDW, 9/4/4 BDW and 20/7 JW. (12) 25c/50c/$1 9/6 JoB bartops at bar by Kitty's coffee-shop. The (12) JOB bartops have been lowered to 8/5. The (6) MG/MD DB machines at various places in the casino have been lowered to 9/7 (I did not check every one). The RF on one of the (2) MS is 1250. All of the fast 25c JW (10) 25c 20/7 JW in alcove opposite Roberta's. Following in the footsteps of Don the Dentist, I too have been trespassed from El Cortez. I think my main crime was allowing too much cashback to accumulate in my account. $5 PROG (1) $5 (96.79%) 8/5 DDB PROG in high-limit area. (1) $5 (96.77%) 16/13/4 DW PROG in high-limit area. (1) $5 (96.18%) 30/6/5 JOB PROG in high-limit area. (1) $5 (95.46%) 40/20/5/4 KBJW PROG in high-limit area. I checked every machine in the Data Base: All of the 10/7/80 DB and the (3 Play) 9/6 JoB are MIA. Some of the games that were reported MIA have reappeared including (1) 50c JW and the 10c/25c Multi-Strikes (9/5 SDB, 9/6 Bdlx and 9/6 JoB). There are at least two multi-denom Multistrikes with 9/6 JOB against the wall next to the raised bar area (which is next to Roberta's). I played at the 10-cents and 25-cent levels, and I'm afraid I did not check the paytables at other denoms. There were other Multistrikes neaby, but I did not check them. The (2) 50c MG JW uprights near Roberta's Cafe and the (6) $1 MG 'Multi Poker' JW uprights near Roberta's Cafe are MIA. El Cortez has apparently made a change to their tracking software similar to the one made at Palms. If you pull your player card before your credits reach zero, you get a message warning you that a carded session is in progress. The 25c (3 Play) NSUD, the 10c/25c Multi-Strikes with 9/5 SDB, 9/6 Bdlx and 9/6 Job, and the 5c (3 Play) 9/6 JoB are all MIA. I got kicked out yesterday for only playing on 3x point days. They got on the computer when I cashed out and went through my play. Told me I wasn't welcomed there. (4) of the 25c Downtown Deuces are MIA. (7) remain. The (2) $1 TITO 10/7 DB in the high-limits alcove have been downgraded to 9/7. Several $1 10/7 DB machines remain around the casino but all are slow and pay in coins. The bar near the coffee shop at El Cortez appears to have 25c/50c/$1 9/6 JOB in all twelve machines on the side nearest the keno lounge. I couldn't check every machine since some were being played, but I looked at enough of them to be fairly sure. The machines on the other side of the bar did not have any 9/6 JOB. 25c 100.9% Double Deuces - In addition to the ten listed in the database, I found another one in the bank near the ice cream parlor. That bank has two on either end of one side and one in the middle of the other side. $1 100.6% KBJW - I found a total of nine machines (all very slow) as follows: (6) upright 'Multi-Poker' machines near Roberta's (2) upright 'Multi-Poker' machines in the high-limit area (1) slant-top in the raised area near the gift shop 10c/25c MultiStrike - (4) TITO uprights in the alcove across from the Sportsbook that contain the following: 8/5 Bonus Poker 9/6 JOB 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe 9/5 Super Double Bonus Poker The 8/5 Super Aces is now 7/5 These machines also have nickels but not with these paytables. The last five .25 Cortez Deuces on earth are huddled in the alcove across from Roberta's Cafe, where there used to be a nosmoking section, awaiting their inevitable execution. Go play them now; their like will never be seen again (100.9%). There are two--count 'em, two--$1 20/7 FP Joker remaining; they can be found in the high-limit area near the craps pit. There's still plenty of FPJW at the .25 level, and at least two machines at the .50 level, although EVERY time I've set foot in there, they have been occupied by a woman who is two machines wide, and consequently plays two machines. Anyway, they're across from the bar that is next to Roberta's. No standard FPDW remain; there is a smattering of .25 NSUD. You can still find FPDB at .25, .50, and $1 scattered throughout the casino. ALL the multiplays suck rocks. Nothing even marginally worthwhile exists at any denomination. NB: Many of the best machines are older non-TITO's with a low 400-coin machine-pay threshold. This results in a LOT of fills and hand pays. The slot floorpeople run around like harried mice, but they're ALWAYS behind. Management makes sure that, busy or slow, there's always just barely enough people on the floor to do the job (piss off your customers, but save $200/day. ??). Cashback is .2, with comps at .25, although in actuality somewhat better than that with the meal-earning promos (earn 1500 points, get one dinner, earn 2500 points, get two dinner, and the points are NOT deducted) and the room promos (stay there in July/Aug, get a free room in Sept, and other giveaways). Current promo, $10 gift cards, is somewhat deflated by the $300 VP threshold (now, you can't get a card for quad A's on DB, SF on $1 FPJW, quads on $1 DB/DDB, etc.). NB: the best play for rapid gift card snarfing is the 9/5 Super Double Bonus $1 machines near Roberta's. Seven out of the thirteen possible quads get you a gift card. This makes the gift cards worth about .25, enough to kick this game (99.6%) into breakeven territory with slot club bennies. Parenthetically, I have never seen so many oddly-shaped people in one location in my life. This is NOT Caesar's Palace, with the overstuffed nouveau RSSe parading their blonde trophy wives, nor is it the Palms, with underage bimbettes in little black Dresses hoping their fake IDs get them into Ghost Bar; think oxygen tanks, walkers, and people who weigh more than Bolivia smoking cigars that were made from dead fish. Cash any IRS or government issued check at the El Cortez and receive: -A FREE Keno ticket -A 3 x points coupon (you pick the day) -A Blackjack matchplay -2 FREE tickets to the Comedy Zone -FREE bottle of wine with dinner at Roberta's Restaurant There will be no more specified 'triple point' days open to the public. They are offering triple points now thru coupons and mailers only, and only to the select players who earn them. At approximately 8:50am this morning, I was TRESPASSED at the El Cortez. I had activated a 3x points coupon and played on a TITO $1 10/7 DB machine in the high-limit area for about half an hour. I was escorted from the machine by a suit and two security officers back to the slot club booth. There I was given my unredeemed Cashback and was read the trespass. It was not a 'barring' (i.e. your play is too strong for us, you are welcome to play any of our other games, except BJ or VP)...it was a trespass...if you enter the El Cortez again for any reason you will be subject to arrest...in accordance with NRS xxx.xxx... I checked my records and I am down $10,415 this year at the El Cortez, partially offset by $2,025 in Cashback. Last year I had winnings of $4,435 and Cashback of $2,075. So it certainly isn't a case of winning too much! I only play there on triple point days (.6% Cashback). I only played the TITO $10/7 DB (a $30/hr play) with an occasional play on the $1 NSUD 3 play/5 play. On Memorial Day, I had deuces dealt on the $1 NSUD Triple Play. I don't know if that had anything to do with the trespass. When I asked the suit why, he said 'no comment'. I didn't think of it at the time, but I should have gotten the name of the suit. I've been barred from a few places when I played a lot of BJ, but never trespassed. Hope this is only paranoia on someone's part at the El Cortez and not the start of a trend. Note (AUG 2004): I found out from a very knowledgable source that the barring was due to two 'situations' - only playing on triple point days and the perception of pulling the players card an abnormal number of times. While I do pull the card on dealt 4OAK or SF, the day in question had special circumstances. El Cortez has 10c/25c Multi-Strikes with 8/5 SA, 9/6 Bdlx and 9/5 SDB. The 9/6 JOB Triple Play that is listed as being by the hotel registration has been changed. It is still .25 TP, but the JOB is now 8/5, with a separate Royal progressive on each of the three lines. However, there are six .25 TP machines (uprights) in the far southwest corner, right by the little cashier cage. These machines have 9/6 JOB, and also have 16/10/4/4 NSUD. The only .25 single line 9/6 JOB we could find were at the bar-tops by Kitty's coffee-shop. There also seems to be 2 or 3 small banks of brand new .25 single line, multi-game uprights down the center of the main north/south aisle. They are about 60 feet (??) down from the west end of the tables pit. These machines all have 8/5 Bonus Poker, and 16/10/4/4 NSUD. All of the machines outlined above have TITO. |
