LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Bill and I were honored to represent our West Point Parents Club of the Greater St. Louis area at the 2001 West Point Presidents Conference held April 5 through the 7th.  Dolores Salvatore, Parents Club Coordinator from the Public Affairs Office, put on a very organized and informative conference.  We enjoyed meeting many motivated parents.  The conference started with a reception on Thursday evening.  Friday morning started early with opening remarks from Dolores Salvatore and Major James Whaley, Director of the Public Affairs Office.  Others we had the privilege to meet and hear a short presentation from were the following: Dean BG Daniel Kaufman who welcomed us all to the conference, COL Robert Kane who briefed us on the upcoming Bicentennial year events, Mr. Fitzpatrick, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, who spoke about the purchase of ARMY/NAVY tickets and Army sports, Carol Weart, who is Cadet Hostess and has been instructing our cadets on social and military etiquette, Bobbi Ryan, Information Systems Division, who helps cadets with their computer problems, and COL Michael Jones, Director of Admissions and Staff Members.  There was an USCC panel, moderated by Brigade Tactical Officer Col Joseph Adamczyk, that was opened to our questions from the floor.  On Saturday we had small group discussions that covered such topics as "How to Keep A Small Club Active, How to Keep Members Involved, How to Help the Academy with the Admission Process"  and Show and Tell.  There was so much information to bring back to our club.
