On May 8, 2025, the West Point Parents Club of Michigan hosted a deeply moving memorial event in honor of Capt. Bob Arvin ’65, the namesake of West Point’s largest building on post, Arvin Cadet Physical Development Center, bringing together more than 100 attendees—including four graduates of the Class of 1965, who were specially recognized for their service and enduring bond with their fallen classmate.
Held at the Emagine Theatre in Canton, Michigan, the evening centered on a documentary film produced by Brian Kruger at Stunt3 Multimedia, chronicling Capt. Arvin’s remarkable life—from First Captain and wrestling team captain to his final act of bravery in Vietnam. A reception beforehand featured memorabilia, including Arvin’s Pershing Award on loan from the Ypsilanti Historical Society and reflections from those who knew Capt. Arvin personally. The film is available for streaming at the link above.
One of the most poignant moments of the evening came at the close of the program: a video message from current Michigan cadets, filmed in front of the Arvin Cadet Physical Development Center. Speaking about Capt. Arvin’s enduring legacy and inspiration to the Corps, the cadets offered a powerful reminder of the unbroken connection between past and present—a living testament to the Long Gray Line.
This memorable event, the first time ever the film has been screened in a commercial theatre, was a collaboration between West Point parents, both current and graduates, members of the Class of USMA 1965 Strength and Drive local supporters, and members of the West Point community across generations. It served not only to honor a hero, but to reaffirm the spirit of duty, honor, and country that defines our Academy and its graduates and cadets. A successful appeal to support the streaming of this important video in all Michigan public libraries was made. Some discussion about sharing this video broadly on post at West Point has also begun and if your cadet would like to support that effort, please contact Rebecca Ufford at the wppcmi.membership@gmail.com.
