Interview
Outline
Following is an interview outline which has been successful:
1.
Review the candidate file status on the web site, and any information you have available on the candidate prior to the interview.
2.
Begin the interview with the purpose of the interview.
a. Provide information to the candidate.
b. Assist the candidate with file completion.
c. Provide information to Admissions for file completion.
3. Confront the candidate with the six questions on the back side of the interview form (the form is available on the web site
under “forms”) and let the candidate answer the questions in
his or her own words.
4.
If the candidate is poorly informed, you should discuss the purpose of USMA and discuss the total USMA program to include:
a. Academic Program
b. Athletic Program
c. Leadership Development Program
d. Cadet Basic Training
e. The Fourth Class Year
f. Honor Code and System
g. Military Orientation of USMA including summer training and the military obligation incurred at two years and upon graduation
5. Discuss, as a minimum,
the following subjects:
a. Admissions Process
b. Testing
1. Academic
2 Medical – the meaning of a DODMERB evaluation of “disqualified” and what to do if so classified
3. Physical Aptitude Examination (PAE)
c. The Nomination Process
d. Candidate visitation opportunities
6. Give the candidate an
opportunity to talk about his or her accomplishments
7. Answer additional
questions the candidate might have.
8. Make sure the candidate
knows how to contact you.
