TALES FROM PLEBE PARENT WEEKEND
Barrow Family: What follows is our account of PPW. First, it was windy and COLD, especially for Florida people. So cold, in fact, that when we exited church after mass it was snowing. In October! This exacerbated the parking problem, which dictated long walks or freezing waits at bus stops. Another drawback was the overlapping of activities.
Our cadet pleaded with us to join her as soon as possible, so we foresook the tour of the uniform factory (others told us this was fascinating) and went straight to her English class. My wife, an elementary school teacher, read another cadet's essay and pronounced it worthy of a smiley face sticker, then apologized for not bringing any. As we left, I asked our cadet: "Have we embarrassed you yet?" "No Sir!" "Damn! The mission's a failure so far!" Ah, but next up was world history, and the subject de jour was the military adventures of Ghengis Khan, one of my favorites.
