Is there a shortage of 35mm film in the stores? Is the Class of 86 a bunch of vampires, impossible to capture on film? Are you people so awash in humility that seeing your own face in print is enough to cause illness? Stop being lazy and send me photos. Even I get sick of seeing my own mug after awhile. Stop what youre doing right now and find a family photo with you in it. Stick the photo in an envelope, attach a stamp, then write my address (see above) on the envelope. Don't read the rest of this column until you have successfully completed the above task. Your country thanks you.
Fred Manzo is seeing a lot of field time in South Korea as an Army Aviator. I recently spoke with his folks. They were happy to report that he's still married (a testament to female charity) and the children are doing great.
Maura (O'Brien) Gillen finished her MBA at the University of Houston, and is the Marketing Officer for USMA Admissions. Her awesome efforts are helping recruit some of the most highly qualified new cadets in USMA history. If you know a talented young person who might make a great Army leader, call Admissions at WOOPS and request the free bicentennial catalog for the Class of 2002. It's a super way to introduce a high school student to the possibility of West Point.
Rico & Gina Minicozzi are living in Austin, TX, on a mountaintop with a stunning view of Lake Austin. Landon & Kristin Lack are en route to San Francisco.
Steve Cannon recently served as Executive Assistant to the President of Mercedes-Benz of North America. He coordinated their advertising agency selection process a few years back and he is now Marketing Manager for the M-Class project. He established the company's first automotive manufacturing plant outside of Germany, and his credits include the new interactive visitor center in Tuscaloosa, AL. In short, he's your go-to guy if you're looking to upgrade your POV.
Steve is keeping himself in top shape - not surprising since he was ranked #1 in PE. He continues to bike, ski, and run marathons - consistently under 3 hours. He still holds his black belt in Karate, but his golf game needs work.
Ulrich Brechbuhl, Brian Bulatao, Mike Pompeo, and Mike Stradinger have formed Thayer Holdings, L,C. to acquire manufacturing companies. They recently purchased their first, Aero Machine, a Wichita based aviation subcontractor with projected sales of $ 10 million. Any '86er interested in leading one of the future acquisitions should contact Mike S. at 816 221-6863.
Ulrich started out in the cav, was an aide, then served in the Gulf War before getting his Harvard MBA. Brian was an airborne ranger, an aide, served in the Gulf, then also earned his MBA at Harvard. Mike P. went cav, then hit Harvard Law School where he was an editor for the Harvard Law Review. After a few years with the firm of Williams & Connolly, he now works for Thayer full time. Mike S. served in the Chief of Engineers Office of Strategic Initiatives. After U of Virginia Law School, he purchased Holland Nameplate and Engraving Company. He is now that companys president.
Matt Pawlikowski went through seminary at Seton Hall. He was ordained into the Catholic priesthood at Sacred Heart Basilica. He will serve as a diocesan priest for 3 years in New Jersey, then come back on active duty. J Bob Jones was selected BZ and just finished CGSC. Pat Kilroy is flying OH-58Ds out of Hood. His wife Pat is expecting #3. Jay Dymek is headed to CGSC. John Pretz, E-3's former TAC, retired from the Air Force and is now a consultant in DC. Mark Gibbons is en route to Birmingham for an otolaryngology residency at the U of Alabama. He was selected BZ for 0-4 in the Medical Corps. His wife, a civilian pediatrician, is over-qualified to co-manage their 22-month-old.
All the best, Bruce.
