USMA Class of 1968 ~ 40th Reunion

USMA Color Guard

Ok Rabble,

If you attended our 40th reunion, hopefully you had a great time - - and if you didn’t attend, hopefully you’re lamenting what you missed.

Anyhow, to recap our reunion, we partied - - remembered lost classmates - - dedicated our class gift - - unveiled plaques and statuary - - uncased class colors - - thanked a long list of classmates for their efforts in support of the reunion in particular and the class in general - - announced three honorary classmates (Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams and Bob Dance - -you’re in good company, Bob) - - watched a sad gridiron performance - - heard genuine Jeffersonian thoughts from the lips of a genuine Jeffersonian - - stopped in at Snuffy’s once or twice for old times’ sake - - elected the same slate of class officers - - breakfasted and dined and prayed and brunched - - and partied some more.  Some of us may recover in a month or two - - some of us may be beyond so quick a recovery.

Some classmates have inquired about photographs of the reunion.  If you have some you’d like to share, please email mhostler@west-point.org and they will be posted on this website for all to enjoy.  If you want to order the professional reunion CD from Academy Photo, ordering information will be posted on the reunion webpage once it is available.

Some classmates have inquired regarding the availability of maquettes of Thomas Jefferson, March 16, 1802.  Some of the limited numbered edition maquettes are still available.  Members of our class will enjoy purchase priority for only a few more days, after which a broader array of customers will be eligible to purchase a maquette, so if you’re interested in owning a maquette don’t delay.  The order blank is accessible just one click away from the left margin of the reunion webpage.

Some classmates have inquired regarding the availability of Both Sides of the Wall – Reflections of the West Point Class of 1968.  Copies are still available.  The order blank is just one click away from the reunion webpage.  (same URL as above).

Some classmates have inquired about ordering fashion memorabilia - please send Megan a note regarding what items you are interested in, and depending on interest, they may be available for "late ordering".  The full catalogue of offerings is still available on the website  (same URL as above - notice the pattern?)  You’ll also notice a wonderful new addition to the available memorabilia – a beautiful woven afghan (see pictures taken by Cookie).  If you are interested, please let us know.

Some classmates have inquired regarding the availability of the full size class colors for company reunions and other events.  The colors will be maintained at Alumni Support office of the West Point Association of Graduates and available through the Alumni Support Office.  They must be shipped at the requestor’s expense and returned promptly following use to the WPAOG.  The requesting classmate must agree to appropriately insure the colors during shipping to replace the class colors if they are lost, destroyed or damaged while under his care.  Please remember that the colors are for indoor use only.

Some classmates have inquired regarding the availability for purchase of presentation “mini’s” of the class colors.  The mini’s (single sided and 16” x 24”) are available for purchase through National Capital Flag Company, Inc., 100 South Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22314 - - toll free telephone number: 1-800-368-3524.  The price recently paid by the class for each unframed presentation “mini” was $250.00.

Some classmates have asked about the availability of the text of the invocation, remarks and benediction delivered at the class gift dedication.  They have been posted and are accessible through the reunion webpage.

Megan and I will be sending out all the reunion memorabilia to those who were not able to attend, or who forgot to pick up their “stuff” at the reunion.  We’ll get all the “stuff” taking up our garages as soon as possible.

If anyone has any other questions regarding the reunion, just ask.  Most classmates heard from to date have indicated that they enjoyed themselves thoroughly at the reunion - - and that makes everything worthwhile.

For now, that’s a wrap, Rabble.

No Task Too Great!
