During his global
wanderings, Prayboy cartoonist Shell Sevicesteln had subjected himself
to the whims of several primitive cultures. Non, however, had proven as
frustrating as that of the Hudson Valley Cliff Dwellers. Shell
ventured into their society as an exchange visitor armed only with a
waterproof sketch pad and a box of multi-shaded gray penciles. His
illuminating portfolio, drawn against the drab background of a joyless,
retarded people, is a landmark of cartoon psychology. It is
unfortunate that his personal attempts to emancipate the Cliff Dwellers
from their unenlightened environment were fruitless.
