The new Class President, Dick Secord, called the telephone conference meeting to order at 1500 EDT, 1 May 2020. In attendance were the new Vice President, Bob Wray, Past Vice President, Jim Bergen, and retained members of the EXCOM, Treasurer, Norm Blahuta, Historian, Dan Ludwig, and ISO, Jack Campbell.
President Secord recommended that the new Vice President also assume the duties of Class Secretary, and be briefed on those duties by the past Secretary, Tom Phillips. The motion passed. Jim Bergen has been handling the 55th Reunion arrangements and agreed to stay on in that capacity for the rescheduled reunion in April 2021.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Jim Bergen reported on the arrangements for the rescheduled Reunion . They will be essentially the same as those for the cancelled reunion. There was some discussion on whether to call it the 65th or the 66th reunion and it was suggested that a Class email vote might be used to determine which would apply. The President commended Jim Bergen for all the great work he has done on Reunion arrangements.
The President suggested that the Flower Fund application needs streamlining, since we have about 190 classmates still alive but minimal contact with many of them.
The President noted that some of the Class committees no longer were functioning or needed and recommended they be disbanded. The discussion from members included the lack of participation and interest, and it was decided that the Travel Committee and the Memorial Article Committee would be disbanded.
The Historian, Dan Ludwig, noted that he is consolidating Class records and eliminating unnecessary ones.
The President closed the meeting at 1540.
