The 5 June 2019 teleconference of the USMA Class of '55 Executive Committee (EXCOM) was called to order by President Tom Horst at 2:00 PM EDT. There being six (6) members present, a quorum was obtained.

MINUTES: The minutes of the 5 September 2018 meeting had been approved by the EXCOM electronically.

CLASS FUNDS: The Treasurer's Report had previously been submitted to the EXCOM by email. The summary of the balances is as follows:

AOG Memory Pages $21,800
Memorial (Flower) Fund 47,071
Memorial Terrace Fund 98,416
Gift Fund 160,343
Admin Fund 86,368
Working Capital 34,065

All funds are deemed more than adequate for their intended purposes, and are in good shape.

A discussion was held relative to the possibility of one or more classmates requesting financial assistance to attend the upcoming 65th Reunion in 2020. It was decided that, although no plans exist to use the Administrative Fund to defray Reunion expenses, if such request were made, consideration would be made by the EXCOM on a case by case basis, and continue the procedure by funding with classmate donations, with Bergen to so state in the Reunion announcement that he has prepared for distribution to the Class.

CLASS GIFT: Horst established a Class Gift Committee to investigate and recommend to the EXCOM, and then to the Class, what use should be made of the approximately $160,000 currently remaining in the Class Gift Fund. This committee, chaired by Carl McNair, has now submitted its report and recommendation to the EXCOM. After lengthy discussions with leaders of USMA and AOG, it was recommended that the funds be equally divided between the Superintendent's Fund and the Long Gray Line Fund, and that the gifts be presented during our 65th Reunion. The EXCOM unanimously approved this recommendation, and will present it to the Class for a vote.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Horst will seek a volunteer to chair a Committee to nominate Class officers for the next five year term between the 65th and 70th Reunions. The chairman will have authority to select other committee members, if any. The name of that individual will be presented to the EXCOM for approval.

CLASS OFFICER ORGANIZATION: Discussion was held relative to combining some officer roles and thereby reducing the number of officers. It was decided to wait until after the Nominating Committee makes its recommendations, and then assess the situation. It was also recommended and approved to eliminate the following committees, which have accomplished their purposes:

Mini Reunion Cruise Committee
DC Area Club

OLD BUSINESS: Dan Ludwig will represent the Class at the 2019 Leaders Conference at West Point 15-18 August 2019

There being no further business, the teleconference was adjourned at 2:55 PM EDT.

Respectively submitted

Tom Phillips
