Betty "Cindy" Fischer Polhemus Steakley
It is with great sorrow that I share the passing of my mom, Betty Fischer Polhemus Steakley "Cindy" on Sunday evening 1 September. After spending the day with my dad, John, and visits from other family members, she died peacefully at rest.
Our sorrow is tempered by the joy of knowing that after several months of battling complications from Parkinson's disease she is resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
Mom always said all she ever wanted to be was a mother, and she was a great one. Her proudest legacy is her four son's, Mark, Matthew, Michael, and myself; our wives Susannah, Jennifer and Charlene; and her grandchildren Kaitlyn, Michaela and Shawn.
I am grateful to her for passing along to me my persistence and my quirky, sarcastic, smart-ass sense of humor. I am most grateful for her being meddlesome enough to arrange my first date with Charlene. I'll miss you mom. Until I see you again, rest in peace.
