Robert Forest Stanley
Robert Forest Stanley was born on 11 June 1932 in Redlands California and was appointed to West Point from the 21st District of California. He entered on 5 July 1950 in the Class of 1954 and joined the Class of 1955 on 25 August 1952. He was in Company G 1, graduated on 7 June 1955 and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army in the Field Artillery.

As a periodic update: my father, Bob Stanley, has been moved to a Memory Care unit and is no longer able to remember things about his life more than a few minutes old.
I spoke with him on Sunday. It was bitter-sweet: same voice, kindly and positive; but, no clue as to who was talking to him.

Lt. Col. Robert F. Stanley
1931 ~ 2016
Bourne - Lt Col. Robert F. Stanley, 84, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Bourne Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. Bob was born June 11, 1931, the second of six children born to Arthur and Miriam (Short) Stanley.
Bob was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Redlands CA. He graduated from the Unites States Military Academy, West Point NY, class of 1955, and was commissioned in Field Artillery. Bob served his country for the next twenty years including an overseas tour to Germany and two to Vietnam, after which he retired from the military, earned his MBA at George Washington University, and took a position with Arabian American Oil Co in Saudi Arabia. In 1993, Bob and his family then returned to Charleston SC where he taught business in the public schools and at the College of Charleston for the next 10 years. He moved to Cape Cod shortly after the death of his first wife in 1995.
Bob is predeceased by two brothers, his first wife Otilia 'Nena' Crume Hamlett, and is survived by their other three children, R. Forrest Jr of McCall ID, Catherine B. Small of Marietta GA, and Mary Ellen S. Austin of Charlotte NC.
Bob is also survived by his wife, Marilyn Stanley, and her five children, Maureen (Michael) Alleva of Mt Vernon NY, Karen (Gregory) Germain of Marstons Mills MA, Linda (Richard) Cantele of Salisbury CT, Cheryl (William) Firisin of Easton CT, and Francis McCaffrey of Falmouth MA.
A memorial visitation will be held at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Mashpee MA, on Monday April 11 from 8:30am to 9:30am. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 A.M. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Mashpee. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in memory of Robert to the West Point Association of Graduates Attn: Gift Operations 698 Mills Rd. West Point, NY 10996.

Dad's ashes will be interned (at USMA) on Friday, 29 April at 10AM per his widow's request.
His brothers (John, Ted and Tom) and my family will make the trip later. John (Class of '60) will do a memorial service for us at the Post Chapel (he is a deacon). Thank you for considerations and efforts.
