John Plympton Stuart Humphrey
John Plympton Stuart Humphrey was born on 24 July 1932 in Canisteo, New York. He was appointed to West Point from the 39th Congressional District of New York. He was in Company C1 was on the soccer team for two years and the track team for two years. He graduated on 7 June 1955 and was commissioned in the US Army in the Infantry.

Canisteo, New York, Congressional, C-1 'Hump' entered West Point from a small New York town, but aside from the fact that he managed to fall into the nearest creek on night problems, he took his place with the best of '55. Although he was never comfortable in social science, academics were no problem, and the gym claimed 90% of his free hours.
