Sally Gersitz
It is with great sorrow that I somewhat belatedly report the unexpected death of my wife, Sally, on Monday evening the 3rd of August this year.
Sally had been resident ib Rosewood Care Center for a little over 3 years, and lately had been under hospice care when she passed away.
Her ashes are nurned at the columbarium at the Nat'l Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, as of Friday, 14 Aug 2015.

Sally C. Gersitz, 80, of Moline, IL, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3207 60th Street, Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be prior to the service at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
Sally was born on May 14, 1935, in Detroit, Wayne County, MI, the daughter of David M. and Catherine Boylan Greene. She married LCol Charles 'Chuck' Gersitz on April 27, 1957, in West Point, NY. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Sally was a dutiful military wife.
Sally was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. There, she was a Eucharistic minister and heavily involved in the ladies activities at the church. She was involved with the Girl Scouts for many years.
Survivors include her loving husband, Charles; daughters, Liz (Tom) Winckler, Moline, IL, and Margaret (Stephen) Clark, Dixon, IL; 6 grandsons, Christian Clark, Patrick Clark, Connor Clark, and Aaron Clark, all of Dixon, IL, Jake (Alexandria) Moore, Moline, IL, and Joe (Kelly) Moore, St. Louis, MO; great granddaughter, Robyn Moore; brother, David L. (Penny) Greene, Somerset, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Chuck Gersitz
Charles 'Chuck' Gersitz, 91, of McKinney, Texas formerly of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Park Manor in McKinney. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, by 9:15 a.m. Military rites will be accorded by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to the family.
Chuck was born on January 29, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the son of Albert Joseph and Lillian Pauline Kyle Gersitz. He married Sally Greene on April 27, 1957, at the Cadet Chapel at West Point.
Chuck enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and went on to graduate from West Point in 1955. He furthered his military career retiring in 1976 after 25 years as Lieutenant Colonel. Furthering his education, he received 3 masters of applied science degrees including one from Augustana College. Chuck's true passion was reading about military history and following Napoleon's tracts. In his later years Chuck enjoyed watching the weather channel.
Chuck is survived by his daughters; Liz (Tom) Winckler and Margaret (Stephen) Clark; grandchildren; Jacob (Alexanderia) Moore, Jakki (Lynn) Hale, Christian Clark, Patrick Clark, Connor Clark and Aaron Clark; sisters, Katharine Gersitz Call, Susan Gersitz Rockwell; nephews, Christian (Ava) Call, Owen (Erin) Rockwell; nieces, Heidi Call, Johanna Rockwell, Emily Rockwell Geevaratne.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
