Ann Stubbs Dunaway
Ann Stubbs Dunaway died on October 29, 2017 at the age of 85, at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia.
Ann was born in Lanier, Georgia in Bryan County, the youngest of ten children, to Joseph Charles and Ruth Caswell Stubbs. She met her husband Roy in high school in Savannah, Georgia. After high school, while Roy went to prep school and attended and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of '55, Ann attended and graduated from Valdosta State with a BA degree in Secretarial Science. They married in 1955.
She was a devoted Army wife for 30 years and a loving mother to four children, Ruthi Breazeale of Atlanta, Georgia, Susan Boler of Asheville, North Carolina, Cindy Ray of Rome, Georgia and Roy Dunaway III of Seattle, Washington, and grandmother to six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild,
Ann is survived by her brother, Rex Stubbs of Fort Myers, Florida. Ann fiercely loved her family and friends. She was spirited and witty; she loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She was a generous and compassionate woman, and enjoyed taking milkshakes to nursing home residents in Eufaula, Alabama before moving to Lanier Village Estates. She was a sports fan, played basketball in high school, and loved anything and everything related to tennis.
A memorial service will be held at Lanier Village Estates at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, affording us many opportunities to share stories and memories of Ann Dunaway that capture the magic of this sparky lady who was vivacious, lively and lovely, all at the same time. She had bright, big blue eyes that locked-in with your eyes and connected her to you, and you to Ann, for a meaningful encounter and a conversation that reflected her love, her concern and her caring spirit.
